Land in the beautiful Greek capital, transfer to your accommodation and set about your day of sightseeing. You’ll be heading up high for your first stop The Acropolis. These ruins are the crowning glory of the city, here your students will look down over the whole of Athens. These are the remains of some of the most famous ancient buildings, it’s also a great opportunity to get some shots of the city.
Today your students are going to the ‘centre of the world’ (affectionately known as Omphalos of Delphi) In the Delphi Archaeological Museum your students can learn about the fascinating history that surrounds the spot and the real meaning behind the name. In the afternoon head to the Olympic Village, which hosted the Modern Olympic Games in 1896.
Today your students can head away from the hustle and bustle of the city and visit the outskirts. It’s here your students will find Mycenae. This archaeological site represents the first real signs of modern civilisation in Athens and dates back to (c. 1600–1100 BC). In the evening your group can enjoy a meal together to discuss learnings from the trip.
On their final day students can explore The Great Theatre of Epidaurus, this is a short way out of the city, but truly worth it. Once your group have had the opportunity to take it all in they will head back to the city before catching their night time flight home.
