So, put that Pastel de nata down, there is learning to be had!
Tell me something I don’t know
JK Rowling wrote the first draft of Harry Potter in Porto.
First things first, check in to your hotel. Don’t go getting too comfy. Head to the Ribeira district and make your way to Sé, a historic church built in the 12th century. After a quick lunch stop you can tick off the Porto Convention Bureau, Alminhas Da Boa Fortuna and the Capela Da Lada from your Porto checklist. Now for the moment your students will never forget, stay in Ribeira and go to the Ponte De D. Luís, a world-famous bridge that offers stunning views of Porto overlooking the River Douro.
Do you sea what I sea? Beaches! Foz has a plethora of picturesque beaches, but they’re a little bit on the chilly side… which is perfect for Portugal’s blazing sun. After an afternoon in the sun head to the beautiful Serralves gardens and take a charming stroll to take in all its natural perfection. After a calming walk through the gardens head back to Ribeira for a stunning meal by the River Douro.
For the architecture students out there, this is for you. The Clérigos Church is one of Porto’s most sought-after attractions and it’s easy to see why. It can be easily spotted by looking out for the mammoth Clérigos Tower, an ornate tower that offers 360-degree views of the city. To carry on this architectural tour, take your group to the Livraria Lello, a famous bookshop that lets you take a walk back in time as you pass through its historic halls. Finish the day with a cheeky treat for your group with a visit to Sea Life Porto and discover all the exciting sea life.
On your final day make sure you leave Porto without any regrets. For a morning of fun and relaxation, the Espinho Beach is the perfect place and is known as Porto’s favourite beach. For a taste of real Portuguese culture make your way down to Casa da Música, which is known as the culture hub of Porto and home to many star acts. We’ve saved the best till last, the Igreja de São Francisco is an incredible, beautiful church that is covered in Baroque finery and 100kg worth of gold leaf.
