Your group will arrive in the city of Chicago, transfer to their accommodation and then enjoy a meal at a local restaurant.
A private tour will be ticking off the main architectural achievements in the city. Chicago Architectural Foundation (CAF) & Frank Lloyd Wright's Robie House are our favourites! A walking tour will focus on sculpture in the Loop. From the traditional realism of the Art Institute’s bronze lions, to the sleek modernism of the “Cloud Gate”, this is a real way to learn how artists and architects collaborate to create successful public art.
Today your students will be accompanied by an architecture expert of the CAF. Students will dive into the best bits of ‘the Loop’, focusing on historic skyscrapers. Highlights include: Burnham and Root’s Rookery, Adler and Sullivan’s Auditorium Building, Holabird and Roche’s Marquette Building & Root’s Chicago Board of Trade Building, all masterpieces in their own right! The walking tour will end on the 103rd floor Skydeck of the Willis Tower. The day will be rounded off with a cruise of the Chicago River & some free time in the city’s shopping district.
Oak Park is the first stop for students today, including a tour of the Frank Lloyd Wright buildings and houses. On a 1-hour walking tour of the 606/Bloomingdale Trail, students will be learning about the history & origins of the railroad.
Today students will be exploring art-glass and mosaic installations, each designed and crafted by the Tiffany Glass and Decorating Company. Later, students will visit the Art Institute of Chicago before enjoying an evening meal together.
Your group can grab some last-minute souvenirs from the city and then transfer to the airport before heading home.
