CAROL'S STORY

Spain

Our staff know their stuff! We sat down with our Educational Development Executive, Carol, to speak about her favourite destination: Spain. Read below to find out what she had to say!
"Working for a travel company means that I’m constantly exposed to amazing destinations and adventures, so whenever I get the opportunity to visit a new place I welcome it with open arms. One of my favourite destinations is Spain – I love it that much I’ve even bought a house there! Spain is such a beautiful country and it’s bursting with culture, every time I go I find myself learning new things which is such an exciting prospect. I would definitely recommend going to the capital, Madrid, especially if you’re visiting Spain for the first time. It feels like a completely different world compared to the rest of the country. There’s such an array of things to do and it’s boasting with Spanish tradition and culture. One of the best things about Madrid is the amount of museums and galleries on offer. My favourite is the Royal Palace of Madrid – it’s one of the most beautiful buildings I’ve ever seen. If you’re spending a few days in the city, make sure you take the time to go to all the different bars and restaurants as this will definitely add something extra to your trip! Barcelona also has so much to offer, historic gothic architecture, the works of Gaudi and the buzz of Las Ramblas. Whenever I start exploring the street of Barcelona I end up wondering around for hours just taking in the atmosphere, it's a destination I will never tire of!"

Top tip

Be aware when arranging car hire! I took out a yearly “excess charge policy” in the U.K, to hopefully save me money in the long run, but the Spanish rental firm did not accept it, and I had to take theirs!
