Sally's Story

I’ve always been interested in business; my parents own their own company so I've always been surrounded by it! I decided to pursue the subject through to A-Level. When I found out there was an opportunity to visit Brussels, I was over the moon!

In the lead up to the trip, our teacher showed us itineraries and guides supplied by STA Travel Education. We were able to build our very own itinerary with our teacher and choose exactly what we wanted to see!

The trip included many guided tours, my favourites were the European Parliament building, the National Bank of Belgium and the Coca Cola headquarters. It was incredible to see the sheer scale of industry, on an international level! Many of the activities linked specifically to an international relations topic we had previously studied, one that was bound to come up in our summer exam.
Our tour guides were really flexible and allowed us to opt in and out of tours. Our group had the opportunity to visit the Grand Place, one of the most recognisable spots in the city. For me the trip was the perfect combination of subject specific activities and free time!

If you’ve ever been to Brussels, you’ll know that the architecture is beautiful and the food is even better. The whole trip was incredibly interesting; it was a brilliant opportunity to experience the historic, political and economic atmosphere and how it impacts our daily lives.

On our return it was easy to see the impact the trip had on our knowledge and learning. My friends and I achieved A’s and B’s on all of our assignments, which was such a confidence boost heading into our final exam.
